| DAY 4:
We spent the morning snorkeling
the rocky shoreline next to our camp spot. Having never snorkeled
as an adult, it was like being in another
world. The fish were beautiful, and unafraid of us. There was a large
school of Mackerel that swam under and around us. I could have done
that all day, but all adventures must end. We packed up, and drove
north on MEX 8 to the border. It took about an hour to make the crossing
into Lukeville.
Note: I used the new Sony Cyber-shot U DSC-U60, underwater digital
camera to take all of the digital photos. It proved to be a great
tool in the water and sand due to its sealed case, etc. Special
Note: Many people have misconceptions of Baja (Sonora in this
case). I never once felt unsafe, or harassed. The personnel
at the military checkpoints were respectful and efficient. Just remember,
that you are in someone else's country, and if you respect their
laws/ culture, they will respect you. Make an attempt to speak
their language,
even if it is just a "gracias", and a smile. The experience
people have at a border town gives them a totally distorted
view of
the country and its people. I left Mexico with a GREAT desire to
return, and I will...
