| The day started in vail arizona, east of Tucson. after fueling up, we drove for about an hour and a half to wilcox. You head south on HWY 181 and reach the trail head for Pine Canyon. After driving through private property with the permission of the ranch owner (this privilege can change without notice), you enter Coronado National Forest. This trail is not challenging, however it offers some of the most scenic low elevation grasslands in arizona. You weave through large oak trees and tall grass. We spotted a white tail deer, that crossed our path, not 20 yards in front of the Land Cruiser. We crossed Five Mile creek several times before exiting the trail on FR 42c. We took a short detour at the end of FR42 and found the most significant challenges of the day trying to cross a washed out road. We finished the day by running the Hands Pass trail, which proved to be much easier than advertised. | |
Trail Rating: 2.5 (1-5 scale) |
