Home / Expedition Equipment / Arizona Truck and Off-road Expo
The first annual Arizona Truck Expo and Off-road Show was held at the Arizona State Fairgrounds from December 10-12, 2004. and provided a small showing of AZ specific vendors and retailers, along with a few national suppliers. I have included a few of the more interesting showings...
Jumping Jack Trailers

One of the most interesting trailer solutions on the market was available at the show, and drew big crowds. These trailers have a GVWR of 2,995 lbs. and can haul two full size ATV's on the roof, while still providing a spacious cabin tent that erects in about 8-10 minutes.

The tent is available with a single and double bed, and a nice interior table (which folds up and out of the way). The tent assembly can also be removed and the trailer converted for a general utility (or high side) trailer.

Jumping Jack Trailers has provided me with one of their 6x8 trailers. For a complete Expeditions West review of this trailer, go HERE!

The Arizona Line X dealer was on hand to showcase their excellent spray on bedliners. I have always been most impressed by Line-X as a result of their Nationwide Lifetime Warranty that can be used at any one of their 400 dealers.

The product goes on much thinner than similar liners, allowing for better accessory fitment and less weight. A typical bed only uses 30 lbs of material.

Scorpion MKIV

The Scorpion has been around for some time, but it is currently being manufactured and promoted through Preferred Chassis Fabrication, out of Tucson AZ.

These vehicles have adjustable height suspension, and Cummins diesel engine.

While the vehicle itself is more than interesting, it is their involvement in the DARPA Challenge that is really notable. Bluefield State College's Center for Applied Research & Technology (CART) will be using the MKIV for their vehicle platform to enter the event.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is a military research and development organization that has promoted the "grand challenge" for accelerated development of an autonomous ground vehicle (no human driver or occupants).

This is leading edge research, and will shape the way ground assaults are led in the future.
